H. Upmann Half Corona
This is another small cigar offering from Habanos SA. I believe this is their shortest offering with most of their other small cigars closer to 4 inches, or slightly larger, in length like the Montecristo Petite Edmundo we reviewed earlier. A good friend gave me this particular cigar, but it is commonly available and very affordable from most online Cuban cigar outlets with most boxes priced around $110 USD for 25.
Wrapper: Cuba
Binder: Cuba
Filler: Cuba
Length: 3 1/2"
Ring Gauge: 44
Size: Petite Corona
The Smoke: Like the Monte Petite Edmundo, this small cigar packs a strong punch and is more robust than you would expect for being in such a small package. The flavor of stick features some solid floral with some light wood notes.
The size of the cigar is perfect with a burn rate that takes about a half hour to consume; perfect for a cup of coffee or maybe a stronger espresso-based drink. This sample did not have an even burn rate which caused me to prematurely ash to try and even up the burn.
Overall, this cigar delivers everything you would expect. A favorable smoke that can be completed quickly while delivering what only a legitimate Cuban cigar can deliver.
Score: Buy a box of 20
