Alec Bradley Mundial

Alec Bradley Cigar Review

I pulled this one out of my humidor on a random Tuesday morning before my commute. I have had these before and they have always been a decent smoke but I never took the time to analyze this offering more in depth until now. This former Cigar Aficionado Cigar of the Year in 2011 is offered in four perfecto vitolas of different sizes between a 5.1"x 52 to a 7" x 52. The particular smoke today is the PL#5 5.1"x 52. The filler tobacco and binders are sourced from Nicaragua and Honduras. The wrapper leaf is also from Honduras. These can be bought for around $7-9 USD per cigar.

Wrapper: Honduras
Binder: Honduras and Nicaragua
Filler: Honduras and Nicaragua
Length: 5.1"
Ring Gauge: 52
Size: Perfecto

The Smoke: The straight cut cigar is well constructed and has a nice leathery tan hue provided by the wrapping leaf. The perfecto vitola shape makes it very easy to light and start an even burn rate that is enjoyed through the entire smoke. The taste has some mild black pepper that is quickly overrun by leather and smoked meat. A sweet sugary note appears mid-stick. The cigar is a medium to full bodied cigar. The construction held during the entire smoke and this particular size took about 45 minutes to smoke to a nub.

This is a great cigar but since it is easy to find I would be more reserved in the amount I purchase. For right now I am going to leave it at a "5 pack" score but if it becomes more rare I think it warrants revisiting the score to rate it higher.

The Score: Buy a 5 pack
