I stumbled upon this cigar in my tupperdor with no idea how it came into my possession. Perhaps, it was from a recently cancelled monthly cigar subscription; or, another option is that it was given to me by a friend. It makes no difference, really; but, pondering this dilemma made me curious to know what other secrets with stick contained. I would soon find out.
The Aganorsa' Signature Selection Maduro line is a Nicaraguan Puro that is available in four sizes: Robusto, Corona Gorda, Toro, and Belicoso listed from smallest to largest. All cigars in this line come in a cellophane protector and have an interesting silver foil below the label that also keeps the foot covered.
This particular Robusto is of the traditional length but comes with a slightly larger ring size than most Robusto shaped cigars on the market. All of the tobacco is sourced from Aganorsa's own farms located through the Nicaraguan country-side.The unique thing about this cigar is the wrapper leaf. The wrapper is a Corojo Maduro that undergoes extended fermentation that makes the leaf extremely dark and it is not available elsewhere.
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 5"
Ring Gauge: 52
Size: Robusto
The Smoke: Removing the silver foil reveals a deep brown wrapper that has color almost equivalent to milk chocolate. The construction of the cigar is solid with the wrapper feeling smooth to the touch that is slightly oily. The look of the cigar is extremely inviting.
The aroma and flavors of the cigar feature cedar, chocolate, and raisins. There are wavering undertones of sweetness that arrive and disappear almost as fast as they arrived. The construction of the cigar remains intact along with a fairly even burn rate. The ash is solid and only needed to be removed twice during the hour long smoke. The draw is good but seems to open more as the smoke reached half stick. This cigar has a full body and profile along with a solid nicotine kick that I found enjoyable but almost a bit too much. Glad I had just finished dinner for this one.
Overall, this is a fine cigar that is worth of its near $9 USD price point per stick. I would recommend for those who enjoy stronger cigars.
The Score: Buy a 10 Pack
