Viaje makes some impressive limited release small batch cigars that are full bodied. At one time this cigar brand used to be produced in the Dominican Republic along with it only being offered strictly to Europe. But recently, that all changed when Viaje moved production from the Dominican to Nicaragua. Currently, this cigar is made from Nicaraguan tobaccos grown in Nicaragua at Aganorsa Leaf's farms while also being manufactured at Agoanorsa's factory.
This entire line, even in its Dominican days, paid homage to Cuba with it's habano leaf wrapper and tobacco grown from Cuban seeds while the packaging replicates Habano's branded Punch cigars. This is currently not an easy cigar to find but it can be had for about $13 USD per stick with some good research and digging.
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 5 1/2"
Ring Gauge: 58
Size: GordoThe Smoke: The Nicaraguan habano wrapper is a lovely light tan hue that is inviting. The unlit cigar has grass and floral aromas. This cigar's construction is good and retains solid construction during the hour long smoke. The burn rate is slightly askew but it does not affect the smoking experience or the draw which remains pleasant though the smoke as well. Flavor from the smoke include leather, cedar, pepper, buttered toast, and some smoked meat along with some mild earthiness. There is a slight sweetness that arrives mid-stick and remains through the end of the smoke. The smoke itself is medium to full bodied.
Overall, the cigar is excellent and worth the effort it takes to find it.
The Score: Buy a Box of 20
