Alec Bradley Prensado Gran Toro

Alec Bradley Prensado Cigar Review

I have had a few of these of the years but never put my thoughts to paper. I thought I might change that earlier today when I was making my way to South Dakota for a work trip. This one was enjoyed outside my hotel sitting on the back of my rental pick-up truck's tailgate.

Alec Bradley is known for presenting unique and award winning cigars to the market and the Prensado is one of Alec Bradley's finer examples of just what they are capable of producing. This cigar was the top cigar in 2011 according to Cigar Aficionado with a very high rating.

This cigar is a thing of beauty. The Prensado features tobacco from Nicaragua and Honduras that are wrapped by a deep tan Corojo wrapper that is also sourced from Honduras. It is 6"x54 with slight box pressing and a intracate and well decorated band.

Wrapper: Honduras
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua and Honduras
Length: 6"
Ring Gauge: 54
Size: Toro

The Smoke: This cigar hits like the first 45 seconds of Pantera's Cowboys from Hell but it keeps coming at you for the entire smoke. The flavors from the smoke are full of roasted coffee, chocolate, and pepper that is consistent for the entire length of the 50 minute smoke.  The pepper lingers on the palate after exhale. The cigar is well constructed and retains its ash pretty well as I only had to ash the cigar twice to avoid it falling on my lap.

This Alec Bradley Prensado Gran Toto cigar is full bodied and not for the faint of heart but I think novice and noob smokers will deeply enjoy this smoke as it never comes across as harsh.

First Quarter finished

The Score: Buy a Box of 20
