La Aurora Preferidos Emerald Robusto

La Aurora Preferidos Emerald Cigar Review

La Aurora is one of the premier cigar makers located in the Dominican Republic.  The La Aurora Preferidos Emerald features Dominican tobacco that is aged in rum barrels while the wrapper is a beautiful light tan colored Sumatra leaf sourced from the Central American country of Ecuador. This offering from La Aurora is available in three vitolas: a double perfecto tubo, robusto, and a toro. This review focuses on the robusto vitola that clocks in at the traditional 5x50 robusto size.

Wrapper: Ecuador

La Aurora Preferidos Emerald Review

The Smoke: It is very evident that this cigar is well made. The Sumatra wrapper leaf appears to be oily and has a brilliant light tan hue. The unlit scent is full of earth and floral aromas. The cigar lit with ease and has a nice draw that was consistent throughout the smoke. The smoke, itself, is light and creamy. Flavors of earth, oak, and leather are abundant. The body of the cigar is medium and an easy smoke during a hot Florida summer afternoon. The cigar retained its construction during the 50 minute smoke. This is a very good cigar and I enjoyed it; it is nothing overly special but it is very solid. I look forward to the next time I have a chance to light up another.

The Score: Buy a 5 pack
