I have a box of these I have been pulling sticks out of for about a year now. These cigars are slightly box pressed and are a traditional robusto size at 5"x 50. The tobacco and binder are sourced from Nicaragua and the cigar is wrapped in a deep tan sun grown Nicaraguan leaf, thus making this cigar a Nicaraguan puro.
This cigar is known to have a long lineage of greatness. It consistently scores very high with many critics while also being a former #1 cigar of the year according to Cigar Aficionado magazine. Frankly, any cigar named after the island nation of Cuba needs to strive for greatness so anything less would be a failure in my eyes.
Wrapper:
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 5"
Ring Gauge: 50
The Smoke: I used a V cut as that is my traditional cutter for box pressed cigars. This cigar is a thing of beauty to behold; the wrapper is rich and oily looking. The cold scent is heavy with floral notes. When lit, this cigar provides creamy smoke that is filled with cocoa, cedar, and earthiness. There is slight undertones of pepper. Mid stick, mild sweetness joins the fray while the last 1/4 focuses on the pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. My Father is a cigar manufacturer that always brings its A-game and the Flor de las Antillas is at the top of the pyramid. It is always a good smoke and it never disappoints when I light up a stick.
The Score: Buy a Box
